Cymerman's College Corner: Temple has the better hand in Atlantic City

Fran Dunphy was nervous after all the recent upsets in this year's conference tournaments, but the Owls quickly ended any chance of an upset. Juan Fernandez came out of the gate on fire hitting 3 three-pointers to take a 24 to 8 lead. Temple would never look back as they went on to defeat the Bonnies 69-51. Fernandez led the team with 17 points. Junior Lavoy Allen had his 13th double- double on the season with 14 pts and 15 rbs. Michael Eric contributed with 13 points. The Owls will now face the Rhode Island Rams. The Rams defeated Saint Louis 63-47. Akeem Richmond finished the night with 13 points with 4 three pointers made. The Owls will play the Rams at 1:00 pm at Boarwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Also teams still alive are Xavier and Richmond. Xavier beat Dayton 78-73. The Muskateers will face the Richmond Spiders after they beat UMASS 77-72.

As for the Big East tournament well looks like Marquette is not a Cinderella team after all. The Golden Eagles fell to Georgetown and will play West Virgina on Saturday for the Big East crown at 9 pm.
