Can we say UPSET!!! That is what has happened in the Big East tournament so far. Villanova and Syracuse who both had 2 game byes obviously were not ready for what were to come. #1 Syracuse fell to Georgetown 91-84. This will probably not hurt their chance of still being a number 1 seed in the tournament.
As for Villanova it was a game that really hurt them as far as the March Madness tourney. I watched the second half of the game and Marquette always had an answer for the Wildcats and even made some little runs. Marquette's 80-76 win is their first win over the Wildcats this season. The Golden Eagles had lost the previous two games by a combined 4 points. They should be a shoe-in for the NCAA tournament, win or lose the Big East. Look out for this guy- Darius Johnson-Odom- he will make some noise the rest of the way for Marquette. He has a great release and can drain it from downtown. He dropped 24 today and was 5-7 from behind the arc.
#16 Pitt fell to the Fighting Irish 50-45. I don't see this helping the Panthers either when it comes time for Selection Sunday. As for the rest of the tournament this is how I see it playing out: I see Marquette pulling off another upset over Georgetown and West Virgina will defeat Notre Dame. As for the finals. Look for Marquette to be the Cinderella team in the Big East tournament and defeat West Virgina.
Tomorrow night I will break down the A-10 tournament as Temple looks for the 3peat! Best of Luck to Fran Dunphy and the Owls when they take on Saint Bonaventure tomorrow at noon.
